JW Mitchell High School’s Patrick Schuster threw an incredible fourth consecutive no hitter Monday. His gem included 17 strikeouts and just one walk. Schuster is a 6’2 lefthander who throws in the low 90’s. He’s a senior this year who has already generated the type of national headlines and acclaim that should get him drafted in the top five rounds.
Schuster is signed to play with the University of Florida, but with performances like Monday’s, there might be an offer he can’t refuse forthcoming.
The record for consecutive no hitters in high school is SIX, held by two pitchers, neither of whom reached the major leagues. In this era of heralded prospects moving quickly, skies are blue for Schuster.
On an unrelated note, if you’re one of our 15 subscribers to the podcast you might wonder what is going on. Well we had some technical difficulties that resulted in Tanner, Tiff and myself speaking for an hour that was never recorded. Missed were great moments such as my proclamation of Randy Johnson in for a great start (he took a no hitter through six the next day), as well as my podmates selecting Marco Scutaro as their MVP picks. GOLD I say, lost in the world of technology. We’ll try to get another one up before the week is out.
